Customer Review: 4 out of 5 Helpful Learning Tool - This was assigned for a Marriage and Family Therapy Master's level course and I found it very helpful and interesting. Quite a page turner considering that it was assigned reading. I definitely recommend this.
Customer Review: 4 out of 5 The Family Crucible - This product shipped within the time it said it would and it was in very good condition.
Customer Review: 4 out of 5 Great read for family therapy - This was a great introduction to Family Therapy and the basic theoretical approaches to practicing. At times the approach made me a bit squeamish, but the philosophy and theory lead to a better understanding of system dynamics and the role of the family therapist. The author is very open and honest which is excellent but can make one a little nervous, such as when he admits to checking out his teenage client's breasts. I read this book for a graduate level Family Therapy course and walked away with a great understanding of the basic concepts. A good read along with being an educational tool.
Customer Review: 5 out of 5 Excellent read - What I enjoyed most from this book was that it was written from the perspective of a group member. You feel that you are sitting in the therapy session with the family, experiencing first hand the events. Now and then the author will step outside of this and explain the purpose, reasoning behind, or just his general thoughts about the situation. This made it a very easy read, it unfolded like a story and was very interesting to read. I enjoyed it very much.
Customer Review: 5 out of 5 Honset - The family crucible is one of the best books that I have read about therapy. The book does not focus on jargon and technical language. The book focus more on the process of therapy and the challenges inherit in the field. The authors exposes themselves and their reactions to the Brices. It was so real to see them talking about what they thought about the family. They did not focus on an all knowing therapist, but on two real human beings who do not have all the answers or the solutions.
