Description:
For Christians seeking to apply their faith to everyday life, Real Faith for Real Life invites readers to answer the call of discipleship and provides guidance and examples of how to do so successfully. Michael Foss, author of Power Surge, encourages readers to rely on six time-tested marks of discipleships that encourage the practice of faith in everyday life:

--Daily prayer
--Bible reading
--Weekly worship
--Christian service
--Relationships that encourage spiritual growth
--Giving in the spirit of generosity

Using Bible passages and real-life stories, Foss illustrates how each mark of discipleship enhances and supports the growth of a person's faith journey. This book also includes study questions and journaling suggestions for small group discussion and individual reflection.

growing as disciples of Christ - Our church uses Real Faith for Real Life as part of our discipleship program for new members. The book is well-received by those attending discipleship classes. The narrative format, personal insights, and questions for reflection are a helpful addition to the other written materials we use. The book presents discipleship in a way that is inviting, personal, approachable, and realistic. We have received good comments on the book from both new Christians and mature believers.

Discipleship spelled out - I am a pastor and was looking for a practical resource that could be recommended to laity within the church. Michael Foss has created a very user friendly guide to spiritual disciplines that takes the mystery out of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. Each mark of discipleship has its own chapter, and each chapter is broken down into smaller sections that are convenient for individual reflection and small group study. And best of all, it is Biblical.

Sorry take on The Cost of Discipleship - High hopes for this book were dashed almost immediately -- one would do much better to re-read Bonhoeffer thoughtfully. The real danger in this book is lack of recognition of the Lutheran understanding of grace and its centrality in our faith and salvation. One would nearly believe that Christianity is a six-step program.
