Description: Afterlife Encounters is the culmination of the Afterlife Encounters Survey, Arcangel’s five-year, international survival study. Arcangel presents all-new, first-hand accounts from individuals who’ve experienced visitations from the dead. Afterlife Encounters reveals the results of that study and, for the first-time, offers a systematic categorization of such encounters, explaining when these encounters are most likely to occur, and what type of apparition is likely to appear. Arcangel’s eye-opening conclusion is that Afterlife Encounters provide lasting comfort to those who are mourning the loss of a loved one.

Customer Review: 5 out of 5 I Love This Book - This book proves what I've always said: There are so many encounters with the other side, and yet the world lives in denial! It's an interesting book with stories from real people telling real stories. I have had it proven to me that love really does survive death and it's great to so that so have others. Even if you are a skeptic, I'd encourage you to at least read the book and consider the possibilities.
Customer Review: 5 out of 5 everything answered - This book is fantastic and an easy read. If you ever had questions about the human soul, this will answer them all.
Customer Review: 2 out of 5 Waxes and Wanes - This book has its moments of quality here and there, but for the most part it is a droning, pseudo-scientific disappointment. About half way through I noticed that almost all (I didn't count) "survey" entries were written by women. (Did only women respond to her survey?) All survey entries were written in the same sugary "chicken soup for the soul" style and were obviously edited and re-written by the author. Two thirds of the way through the book, the author's self-aggrandizing style became louder and louder. When I read her account of George Anderson's "reading" of the author, I almost threw the book away when I read the part where he tells her that she will become very wealthy-- "not one million... many millions" and "be offered a new career... writing."
It took work forcing myself to finish reading this book and afterward I felt I had wasted a lot of time.
Customer Review: 5 out of 5 Afterlife Encounters - Incredible insights into our life after death of the physical body. Excellent, so good I'm getting more to share with friends!
Customer Review: 2 out of 5 My Review - a little skepticism is called for - Diane Archangel's book about after-death experiences is interesting. It starts with several stories about living people who had interaction with one or more people who had died. Those stories are impossible to verify, difficult to quantify, so any real research on those is only that of categorization, which is what Mr. Archangel does. This is not real scientific research. So if you're looking for proof, this book will not do it.
If you're looking for a semi-interesting read, and you're not expecting some excellent style, a la Gore Vidal, or Salman Rushdie, then this book is for you. Further, some of the stories could be true.
I was mildly amused by the stories, kept my mind open until I reached the part about her "research" into mediums. It was more the mediums I lost patience with, rathern than Ms. Archangel, but I was annoyed with her for including this section because it undermined what little credibility she had built up as a researcher. The mediums interactions were full of those old tricks of mediumship such as "I sense someone whose name begins with J or M." Almost everyone's name begins with J or M. Those are the two most popular initials of American names. The mediums she engaged with were full of these common hocus-pocus tricks of the trade. I was not at all convinced the mediums were anything more than charlatans. They should have been left out. The book was too long anyway.
There are better books out there on the topic, but if you just want some stories of possible existence beyond death, some of the stories may provide you with what you're looking for.
