Customer Review: 5 out of 5 This book has me off and running as a freelancer. - I bought this book a few weeks ago as I was toying with the idea of doing a bit of freelance writing part time. The book is well organized and has very clear exercises designed to get you thinking about your ideas and the markets to whom you may pitch those once they come to fruition as marketable stories.
I found the practical advice invaluable, but also appreciated the fun encouraging tone that inspired confidence to proceed with my freelancing efforts.
I have just submitted my first commissioned article for a newspaper, have another commissioned piece in the pipeline and I am working on two stories of my own which I hope to pitch in the not too distant future.
This book is a must for any mom looking to do a little bit of professional writing.
Customer Review: 5 out of 5 Absolutely essential - When I first started freelancing I had no idea where to start. I had a four month old son and felt completely disorganized. I was terrified of the unknown until I came across 'Writer Mama'.
Its fun to read, easy to follow and is so well organized in terms of content. Christina Katz is a wonderful teacher and the exercises at the end of each section really help to build confidence. They're not long-winded at all. Just simple, fast tasks to get you going.
Not only did this book help launch my career, it showed me how I could do it whilst raising my family. It really does what it says on the tin!
I still have my copy close at hand for reference and have recommended it to all of my writing friends.
Customer Review: 5 out of 5 A find at the beach that launched a career - I was vacationing with my family at Seaside, Oregon when I found this book while browsing a local bookshop. It was one of the most exciting beach reads I've ever had. I began to see how I could really become a writer instead of just dreaming about it.
Christina Katz offered concrete exercises that I could complete while my son played in the sand. That started me on my journey. Two years later, I'm still building off of what I learned and going back to it to find information.
If you've ever thought about writing but were just never sure how to get yourself going, this is the book for you. If you're a mama who loves to put words on the page, this is the book for you. If you'd like get to know others who make a living with those words, try reading the Writer Mama.
