An interesting read, unlike anything you have read before... - I am a psychic medium who constantly has my nose buried in some book or other about metaphysics or spiritual matters and I found this book to be a unique and interesting look into the afterlife.
Cyndi Dale, the author of this book, has been studying shamanism for years and is a practicing psychic. She talks about the after life so matter-of-factly that you have to approach this book with an open mind, but I was astounded at the information it provided. I have read many books on the topic of psychic development and metaphysics, so I am used to reading a book and skipping over bits here and there because it's reiterated information that I am already very well read on, I found I could not do that w/this book! It's too full of information, I was afraid to miss something!
Highly recommended, if not for anything other than pure curiosity. Worth the read!

Illuminating the Afterlife by Cyndi Dale - It's a wonderful book. It needs to be read in bits and pieces so it can be absorbed a little at a time. It's very informative and believable. If you are broad minded and open to new experiences and believe, as I do, that our life on this planet is only the beginning, you will enjoy this book immensely.

Something Off - I have been into the study of the afterlife and the nature of the universe for quite some time and I have come across some amazing texts. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. I have to agree with the other reviewer that said that something felt off about this book. I began reading it with an open-mind but there were many inaccuracies. Those who have been studying for a while will have, by now, picked up a sense of discernment, being able to tell what is true and what is false. This book is well-intentioned but is by no means an accurate depiction of things. I'll be returning this book to the store. It may be okay for those looking for an inspirational message or for a beginner, but for the seasoned student it will be apparent that this book is just a little too off. It seems as if the author has gathered bits and pieces of information from multiple sources and mashed them together. As someone who has read a number of books on the afterlife, I have to say that little in this book rings true. I would urge all of those who are interested in such spiritual studies to read as much as you can. The more you read and the more you know, the better able you are to discern what is truth and what is not.

Illuminating the Afterlife - Having worked with Hospice Patients as a visiting nurse, I was excited and impressed to have a new way of looking at the afterlife for so many wonderful patients. This book is a great comfort for Christians and people of many faiths. In the 70's Elizabeth Kubler-Ross wrote the ground breaking book "On Death and Dying" that is still standard reading in college courses. The book "Illuminating the Afterlife" is the new ground breaking book of our time that will be in college courses for years to come to enlighten us for both our journey in living and after.

the art of a spiritual challenge -
I work professionally in the hospice field and am happy to read a book that has some real depth, research, and insight. I was shocked to read the negative diatribe of another reviewer and felt that I wanted to respond. The points made did not relate to the book and were out of context, even to saying that Edgar Cayce did not die young - my understanding is that although he lived into his 60's, he was tired and sick from helping so many people. And good for the author, to challenge us spiritually. Maybe it IS spiritual manipulation, to be grateful for want we want before we get it. Maybe we need to start by being grateful for what we have and concentrate on what we have to give, not just get. I think the death and dying field needs someone pushing at our boundaries and I'm glad that this author is doing it.
