Very practical - I love this textbook. I tried previously to get my BCBA coursework done using a different textbook and had to drop the first class because it was too consusing. But this textbook clearly teaches a BCBA student the principles of ABA without making your head spin. I was failing my ABA class when using a different textbook and now I am getting A's on the quizzes. Also, this book comes along with a website were you can review chapters and take practice quizzes. Highly recommended textbook and worth the high price.

The Bible - This book is THE book to have if you are planning on a career as an applied behavior analyst, preparing to take the board certification exam in behavior analysis, or are a practicing applied behavior analyst wanting a comprehensive reference book on ABA. It is way too rigorous and way too long, in my opinion, for an introductory course in ABA, especially a one-semester undergraduate course. However, it offers the level of detail that advanced students who plan to work in ABA need. As far as I know, there is nothing that can compete with this book for completeness.

Great book for ABA - This book is great for studying ABA though it gets dry reading it and some chapters make a simple explanation become complicated but it is backed up at the end with a good summary.

Purpose of this book? - What is the purpose of this book? If the purpose is to convey information to the reader, it is a gigantic failure. If the purpose of the book is to try and dazzle other professors, it may be a partial success.

I have a Masters degree in this field, and was not at all impressed. The use technical terminology is excessive by a factor of 10. For example, in defining the word "reinforcement", the autor uses the term "reinforcement" to explain what "reinforcement" means. No too impressive for folks who claim to be experts in learning theory.

I work professionally in this field, and was very disappointed. This work is another example of "institution building", with the ABA certification board being the institution trying to perpetuate itself.
