Description: When Elliot Aronson, Timothy Wilson, and Robin Akert started with the first edition of Social Psychology their overriding goal was simple but ambitious: capture the excitement of social psychology in a textbook. Now in its sixth edition, the authors have discovered - through many kind letters and e-mail from professors and students - that they have succeeded in making their book an enjoyable, fascinating story, not just a dry report of facts and figures. In their work they have found that social psychology comes alive for students when they understand the whole context of the field: how theories inspire research, why research is performed as it is, how further research triggers yet new avenues of study. The authors have reached students by conveying their own fascination with the research process in a down-to-earth, meaningful way, yet have done so without sacrificing a firm foundation on which to build the reader's understanding. Here, in its sixth edition, the authors present a rigorous, scientific approach to social psychology in a manner that continues to build on the text's legacy of engaging and fascinating students.

Customer Review: 5 out of 5 Great Addition to the Personal Library - I love this. I've had some interest in Psychology in general, so when I needed this book for my Social Psych. class, this was well-informed of all the issues and concepts that are presented in analysing society as individuals and groups. It has opened my eyes to see people in a different outlook when people are rude, inconsiderate, or when people come as "weird."
Besides those particular points, it also helps in understanding your own personal actions. You can receive a lot from this book that can benefit yourself and others for the good of your social environment. Highly recommend this.
Customer Review: 4 out of 5 Social Psychology Starters - I'm an engineer by trade and thus have not had much experience with studies in this area. This book provided real life breakdowns of scenarios within social psychology that makes it understandable to me (who has no previous background). I enjoyed many of the topics discussed and have even been able to apply a lot of the cases stated in the book to my real life situations. I consider this book beneficial for everyone who is involved in some type of social setting, whether work or personally related.
Customer Review: 1 out of 5 Zero stars! - If I could give this book zero stars I would. It is an overly opinionated view of the world. The book doesn't observe why people do the things they do. Instead the authors state their own political agenda and attribute it to the causes of every single action we do as humans. I would recommend asking your teachers to get another book from a different author!!!
Customer Review: 2 out of 5 Two stars for effort - I am revising my reveiw of the book guys. My recent experience of receiving a a text book late was largely out of their hands. The United states postal service messed up!
I would hope in the future UPS would be the way to go.
The staff at the book guys were communicative and concerned. My refund was issued promptly.
Customer Review: 4 out of 5 Good product! - Text book was deff used, but the price was the best. Shipping was pretty fast. Overall, I am content with this product.
