Impressed :) - School was a couple weeks in & I still didn't have my textbook because they had ran out at both the bookstore & Ross Books. I then decided to stop waiting & just order online; I used Amazon at a friend's request and I was incredibly impressed because my textbook arrived within 2 or 3 days and the condition it was described as was completely accurate! Thank you!

As a teacher of sociology, you can do much better -
I am currently using this textbook to teach introductory sociology. I was required to use this textbook by my current department. My main problem with this book is that it is a data dump. Macionis packs far too much information into each chapter. For example, students taking intro do not need to know 8 theories of deviance, or how to recognize a spurious correlation. I find that I have to specify which sections of every chapter the students should focus on. Lost is the fun and excitement about learning about the social world. Honestly, if I were a student, this textbook would kill any interest I had in sociology. I try to supplement it with a reader, but the chapters are so dense that students don't have time to do the supplementary reading. I just wish I could switch to another book!

misleading - The book was worn, had writing inside, and highlighted passages. I was very disappointed with the quality it was in and feel the description was very misleading.

Sociology used book price run up. - This is a used textbook for a Sociology class at a Community College. The book seems fine, and I was happy with the short time it took to arrive. I was not happy with the way the prices for this book, from multiple sellers, on your site, literally went up right before my eyes. It smells of impropriety! I started out at 46.00, but was lucky to get one for 72.00. Ah, the wonders of the Internet--and Amazon. Let all buyers beware!
