The authors provide readers with the basis for discovering their own guidelines within the broad limits of professional codes of ethics and divergent theoretical positions. They raise what they consider to be central issues, present a range of diverse views on these issues, discuss their position, and provide readers with many opportunities to refine their own thinking and to actively develop their own position. The authors explore such questions as: What role do the therapist's personal values play in the counseling relationship? What ethical responsibilities and rights do clients and therapists have? And, what considerations are involved in adapting counseling practice to diverse client populations?

Customer Review: 4 out of 5 This Will Make You Think Before You Have a Crisis! - This book is awesome at offering insight to possible situations in counseling. They ask questions at the end of each chapter to get you thinking about how you would handle the situation and if you are even prepared to handle a situation. I enjoyed learning from this book. I highly recommend it to anyone going into a counseling or theraputic environment.
Customer Review: 5 out of 5 Issues and ethics in the helping profession - THe book came within 10 days. It was not damaged in any way. THe condition of the text was as described by the seller. I am pleased with this transaction.
Customer Review: 3 out of 5 Overall good purchase - I purposely ordered the book new and paid more money because I needed the CD that came with the new book. Unfortunately I didn't get the CD in my book. My book arrived as scheduled in great condition but without the needed CD. I was disappointed but overall satisfied with the purchase. I give this 3 stars because it was supposed to have CD enclosed and I paid more money for a new book, specifically for that item.
Customer Review: 4 out of 5 Ethics in helping. - I was pleased with the price of the book and the condition in which it was delivered. It was shipped quickly and got to me in the time it was specified.
Customer Review: 3 out of 5 good resource, fairly long readings - As my title suggests, this book is an excellent resource. It frequently references most of the major professional organizations for therapy (APA, NASW, AAMFT, etc.). However, the chapters can seem redundant they are so thorough.
